Tips & common problems
- If you get a "not well-formed" error, an unclosed tag or a stray
&is almost always the cause — fix it and retry. - Very deep hierarchies are indented up to ten levels, after which the indent holds steady so text keeps its width.
- Large exports render faster if you split them: files over roughly 8 million characters are refused for safety.
- Need the data back out of a PDF instead? PDF to XML does the reverse trip.
- For styled, designed output, transform the XML to HTML with your own XSLT first, then use HTML to PDF.
When to use this vs. related tools
Choose this when you need a faithful, printable view of the data itself. If you want a designed report with your own fonts, colours and tables, run your XML through XSLT into HTML and use HTML to PDF; if the XML is a spreadsheet export, Excel to PDF may give a tidier table.

No. The tool renders the document structure itself. For styled output, transform the XML to HTML first and use the HTML to PDF tool.
What if my file is not well-formed?
You get a clear error and no file is produced. Unclosed tags and unescaped ampersands are the usual causes.
Which characters are supported?
Standard Latin text is rendered directly; typographic quotes and dashes are mapped to plain equivalents, and other scripts are replaced with a question mark because the built-in PDF fonts are WinAnsi-encoded.
Are attributes included?
Yes — every element is printed with its attributes next to the tag name.
Can it handle SVG or RSS files?
Yes, both are XML. You will get the markup laid out as a tree, not a rendered picture.
